Tarvisio is also a destination for many pilgrims thanks to the striking Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lussari, a place where tradition says an apparition of the Virgin Mary took place. The Tarvisio area offers those who enjoy outdoor activities a very rich array of proposals. Absolutely worth visiting, near Tarvisio, are the lakes of Fusine (joined together by a fascinating route), the Montasio Plateau and the ski resort of Sella Nevea .Migratory birds, deer and roe deer find refuge in the Julian Pre-Alps Nature Park, which can also be discovered through original hikes.
